Café opening hours
Saturday and Sunday: 9-12:30
Our 25-seater café offers fresh, local, seasonal food with a great range of salads, tarts, soups and cakes all made on the premises or in the village. Vegetarian and gluten free options are available. We serve freshly ground coffee and a range of specialist teas. The café is fully licensed with a good range of wines and local beers and ciders.
The atmosphere is friendly, informal and welcoming. The terrace is a great place to sit, soak up the peaceful rural atmosphere and enjoy great views over the fields. It is the perfect meeting place for locals and a great stopping point for walkers and other visitors.
The originally tiny café was extended and better equipped in July 2013 with the help of a Lottery Village SOS grant to open a larger café with a fully equipped kitchen. See our current Menu.
The menu lists the items which will ALWAYS be available; in addition, our café staff and volunteers cook something special every day, with the choices posted on the blackboard. They usually include a hot meal.
Please visit and see for yourself!
Every second Wednesday of the month we host the ” Galleries Gathering” – our local retired residents – for a special lunch costing £7.50 which buys a main course, dessert and coffee. Please book – on 723249.
We also organise monthly special evening meals, or “Supper Clubs”, roughly once per month. We had Taj Manku-Scott’s evening of Northern Indian food, Vito Albergo’s Tasting Menu, a Vietnamese evening provided by Noya’s Kitchen, Marilyn’s “June in Somerset” and, on Thursday 18th August, a “Vegetarian Feast” provided by Beth Al-Rikabi aka the Free Range Cook. Our next supper club is Marilyn’s “Autumn in the West Country” – see here. A few places remain.
Look out for further supper club evenings at the Galleries Shop & Cafe.
